Create a user from a contact
Create a user from a contact creates a Business App user from an existing CRM contact record. Use it to automatically give contacts access to Business App when they're qualified, onboarded, or reach a specific stage in your workflow. This action is available on contact-scoped triggers.
How it works
- The automation reaches the Create a user from a contact step with a contact in scope
- The step creates a new Business App user using the contact's details (name, email)
- The user is associated with the contact's account
- The onboarding email is sent to that user
- The automation continues to the next step
Set up the action
- Open the automation builder and add a new step
- Under Users, select Create a user from a contact
- Select Send Onboarding Email to email the new user. Preview email shows what they'll receive.
- Optional: add a Custom introductory message — up to 1000 characters, placed at the top of the email
The contact currently in scope supplies the user's details, so nothing else needs configuring.
info
The onboarding email is sent whenever a user is created on an account, so the new user hears from Business App either way. The controls here let you preview the email and add a greeting to it.
Outputs
