An email activity is created or modified for a contact

An email activity is created or modified for a contact starts a workflow whenever an email is logged — or an existing email activity is updated — on a contact record. Use this trigger to automate follow-up tasks, record updates, or notifications based on email interactions with your contacts.

This trigger fires for both newly logged emails and edits to existing email activity records, so workflows stay current as details are added or corrected.

Trigger scope

This trigger operates at the contact scope. Contact, company, and account actions are available downstream.

How it works

  1. A team member logs a new email activity — or edits an existing one — on a contact record in the CRM.
  2. The automation evaluates any trigger conditions you've configured (for example, filtering on email direction or subject).
  3. If all conditions are met, the workflow starts with the contact, their associated company, and the account in context.
  4. Downstream steps can use Add dynamic content to reference email activity details, contact fields, and company fields.

Available data

All standard contact, company, and account fields are available downstream via Add dynamic content. This includes fields such as contact name, email address, phone, assigned salesperson, company name, and account tags.

info

Email activity fields (such as subject, direction, and notes) are available as dynamic data in steps that follow this trigger.
