Remove tags from account

Remove tags from account strips one or more tags from an account when the automation step runs. The tags are removed from the account record immediately, keeping your segmentation and reporting accurate as accounts move through stages. This action is available on account-scoped triggers.

Use this step to clean up tags that no longer apply — for example, removing an Active Trial tag when a trial period ends without conversion.

How it works

  1. The automation reaches the Remove tags from account step
  2. You define one or more tags to remove in the step configuration
  3. When the step runs, each matching tag is deleted from the account record
  4. If a specified tag does not exist on the account, the step skips it without error
  5. Downstream steps reflect the updated tag state immediately

Set up the action

  1. Open the automation builder and add a new step
  2. Under Tags, select Remove tags from account
  3. Configure the fields:
FieldRequiredDescription
TagsYesOne or more tags to remove from the account. Enter each tag and press Enter to add it to the list.
tip

Use Add dynamic content in the tag field to insert a tag value from a previous step — for example, a tag name passed in from the trigger. Dynamic values are resolved at runtime, so the correct tag is always targeted.

Outputs
