Your best-fit first clients
The first sale moves fastest with a business that feels the leak every day. Lead with clients who match this profile:
- An appointment-based or in-person service business: home services, HVAC, cleaning, lawn care, painting, roofing, electrical
- $150K to $1M in annual revenue
- Currently missing calls or slow to respond to new leads
- No dedicated receptionist or marketing staff
A business like this sees value in the first demo, because the demo shows them a call they would have missed being answered. The further a prospect sits from that profile, the more the conversation has to explain before it can show.
Start with three to five clients from your existing book. Your warm relationship is the one advantage nobody cold-calling them has: they already return your calls, and the conversation opens on trust you have already earned.
Three ways in
The words depend on the relationship. Click through the one that matches each name on your list:
- A client you talk to regularly
- A client you have not spoken to recently
- The email follow-up
Add it to the agenda of your next scheduled call:
"I want to show you something new before we wrap up. It is a 10-minute demo of a tool I think could help you stop missing leads. Can we add that at the end?"
The ask is small, the time is bounded, and the meeting already exists.
Call or text first. Email waits until after the first touch.
"Hey [name], I have been working with a few [home services] businesses on something that has been getting them more leads without any extra work on their end. Worth a 15-minute call. When works for you this week?"
Swap in the industry your client actually recognizes as their own.
Subject: quick question about missed calls
"Hey [name], quick one. Do you know how many leads you miss every week when you are on a job or after hours? I am working with a tool that solves exactly that. 15 minutes, happy to show you. When works?"
The subject line names the leak, and the body asks one question the owner cannot answer, which is exactly why they take the meeting.
Every version ends the same way: a specific, short ask. Fifteen minutes with a day attached books more meetings than an open invitation to chat, because it is easy to say yes to.
Write down the three to five names from your own book that match the profile above, and mark which of the three ways in fits each one. This list is your working roster for the rest of this path: the demo, the discovery call, and the rehearsal all point at these names.
