SMS notifications for meetings

When someone books a meeting with you, My Meetings sends them a confirmation and a reminder by email. You can now send these by text message (SMS) too. Guests who get a text are less likely to miss the meeting.

Rolling out

SMS is being turned on for Partner Center gradually. If you don't see the SMS options on your event type yet, they haven't reached your Partner Center. Your guests keep getting email.

What you need

  • A plan that includes SMS. This is the same SMS used by your Partner Center Inbox. Trial plans don't include it.
  • A company in a supported country. United States, Canada, Australia, or Italy. Australia is available to a limited number of partners for now.
  • An SMS number for your company. You set this up once under Inbox → Settings. The steps below show you where to do this.
  1. Go to CRM → My Meetings → Manage booking links and open an event type.
  2. Under Questions for invitee, turn on Required next to Phone Number.
  3. For confirmation channel, pick SMS or Both.
  4. For reminder channel, pick SMS or Both.
  5. Click Save.

That's it if you already have an SMS number. If you don't, you'll see a Register button next to the SMS options. Read on.

If you see a Register button

The Register button means your company can't send SMS yet. The label on it tells you why.

Label on the buttonWhat to do
Register to send SMS notificationsSave your event type, then click Register. It opens Inbox → Settings. On the SMS card, click Register now (United States, Australia) or Claim phone number (Canada). Then come back and pick SMS or Both.
Registration in progress (United States only)Your registration is being reviewed. This can take a few days to a few weeks. Your guests get email until it's approved.
Registration rejected (United States only)Click Register to go to Inbox → Settings, fix the details, and submit again. The most common reason is that the business name or address doesn't match IRS records. See SMS registration for US businesses.
Your subscription doesn't include SMS notifications (button greyed out)Upgrade your plan, then come back.

Registering needs access to Inbox → Settings. If Register takes you to a page you can't open, ask a Partner Center admin to do it.

Registration is done once for your whole company. Everyone on your team then sends from the same number.

What your guests get

  • A text when they book, a reminder before the meeting, and a text if the meeting is rescheduled or cancelled.
  • Confirmation, reminder and reschedule texts include a link to the guest's booking page, where they can reschedule or cancel.
  • Every text starts with your company name, so the guest knows who it's from.
  • Texts are in English only.
  • Guests can reply STOP to stop getting texts, and START to get them again.
Italy

Italian companies send from a sender name based on the company name, not a phone number, so guests can't reply STOP. SMS for Italian companies isn't fully available yet. If you're in Italy, check with Vendasta support before relying on SMS.

Business App is not affected

This page is about meetings booked through Partner Center. Your clients' SMS settings in Business App stay exactly as they are.

Frequently asked questions

Does each person on my team need their own SMS number?

No. Your company has one SMS number, and everyone on your team sends from it.

Can a guest book without giving a phone number?

Not when the event type uses SMS or Both. Phone Number is a required question, so the guest must enter one. To let guests book without a phone number, turn Phone Number required off. Your guests then get email instead.

Can I send texts in a language other than English?

No. Texts sent from Partner Center are always in English.
